Pre-Clinical Department

Course offered

Total learning hours of department of anatomy is 530 hrs during first one and half years of MBBS course

Course description:

Anatomy is the branch of science concerned with the bodily structure of humans, animals, and other living organisms, especially as revealed by dissection and the separation of parts.

Human Anatomy is the study of the structure of the human body and how the body parts are organized. It is concerned with the structural components of the body and correlates it with normal body functions.

Knowledge of anatomy is required to understand, correlate and appreciate the other subjects to be taught in the Para-clinical and clinical medical courses.

Anatomy course is arranged into 3 terms (1st, 2nd and 3rd).

  1. 1st term examination takes place in May and topics include –
    • Thorax, superior extremity, histology card-I
  2. 2nd term examination takes place in October and topics include-
    • Abdomen, Inferior extremity, histology card-II
  3. 3rd term   examination takes place in March and topics include-
    • Head & Neck, Brain & eyeball & Histology card-III

Regular 1st professional examination takes in May and supplementary in November.

Anatomy course objectives:

At the end of the Anatomy course, the students should be able to:

  • Mention, identify, show , draw and describe the structure components of the body responsible for carrying out normal body functions;
  • Use the above knowledge to understand, correlate and appreciate the other pre-clinical , para-clinical and clinical medial subjects.
  • apply the knowledge of anatomy with the knowledge of other medial subjects to provide optimum health services in the country and abroad.
